Navigating Emotions and Screens: Emotional Intelligence as the key to a balanced digital life for teens

Abstract

Questo studio indaga la relazione tra intelligenza emotiva, uso problematico dei social media e attività legate alle immagini sui social media tra gli adolescenti. Condotta con 1109 studenti delle scuole secondarie di primo grado italiane, la ricerca utilizza questionari per valutare l'intelligenza emotiva, l'uso problematico dei social media e le attività legate alle immagini sui social media. I risultati rivelano una significativa correlazione negativa tra intelligenza emotiva e uso problematico dei social media. È emerso inoltre che gli adolescenti che riportano una maggiore propensione ad avere interazioni incentrate sulle immagini sui social media sono a maggior rischio di sviluppare dipendenza dai social media. Inoltre, lo studio identifica le attività legate alle immagini come un mediatore parziale tra intelligenza emotiva e uso problematico dei social media. Il lavoro si conclude con raccomandazioni per promuovere modelli di utilizzo più sani e interventi volti a promuovere le competenze di intelligenza emotiva per mitigare i potenziali danni associati alle piattaforme dei social media.
