Computational Complexity, Quantum Advantage, and Inclusive Design: A Conceptual Analysis of Educational and Assistive Technologies

Recent advances in quantum computing have renewed interest in potential computational advantages for problems that are difficult or impractical under classical approaches. Yet, their implications for educational and assistive technologies, especially from an inclusive, human-centered perspective, remain insufficiently explored. This paper addresses this gap by examining “quantum advantage” through the lens of computational complexity and inclusive design. The work adopts a conceptual and interpretative methodology, drawing on interdisciplinary literature in computer science education, human-computer interaction, and inclusive pedagogy. Rather than reporting empirical experiments, it synthesizes recurring patterns and design constraints that emerge when advanced computational paradigms are translated into educational and assistive contexts. The analysis indicates that increasing computational sophistication is systematically associated with higher levels of abstraction and cognitive load, which may hinder accessibility if left unmediated. It also shows that interaction design, visualization, and multimodal interfaces function as essential mediators, enabling interpretability and supporting heterogeneous users. At the same time, limitations related to technological maturity, transparency, and ethical accountability delimit the conditions under which claims of quantum advantage remain credible. Overall, quantum advantage in educational and assistive technologies should be understood as a conditional and mediated phenomenon, emerging from the interplay between computational acceleration, pedagogical scaffolding, interactional design, and human agency, rather than as an intrinsic property of computation alone.
